A tweet by Cory Barlog, who directed the first title of the Norse series, suggests that a few retailers sold the copies of the game to players almost two weeks ahead of the game’s intended release (November 9). He said he was "frustrated" and "sorry" that everyone will now "have to dodge the spoilers" if they "want to play the game fresh".
