China's Baidu has sued Apple over fake versions of its ChatGPT rival Ernie bot

Baidu has filed a lawsuit against Apple and "relevant" app developers in China over fake copies of its Ernie, a chatbot. It said there are fake apps available on the Apple App Store for Ernie, which the company has described as its closest answer to US AI-powered chatbot, ChatGPT. Ernie is only available to users who apply for and receive access codes, and is not available in the form of an official app. Baidu warned anyone selling access codes that it was illegal. Four fake Chinese-language name versions reportedly existed on Apple's app store as of 8 April.
