Baidu, China's internet giant, is set to launch its first smartphone next week, according to a Bloomberg report, with Xiaodu, the company's smart speaker unit, leading the development. While already selling smart displays and speakers, the move into smartphones marks an expansion of the company's portfolio as it builds out a hardware ecosystem to accompany its internet services. Baidu enters a crowded market which already counts three major Chinese companies within its top five: Oppo, Vivo and Xiaomi.
