US FTC opens investigation into ‘risks of harm’ of ChatGPT

The US Federal Trade Commission (FTC) is investigating OpenAI, the creator of popular AI products ChatGPT and DALL-E, for data collection and distribution of false information. The FTC sent a letter requesting relevant documents regarding OpenAI's security practices and how the company addresses risks associated with its language AI models. The FTC is also interested in any complaints related to false or malicious statements made by the AI and the accuracy of the products they provide. OpenAI responded by expressing disappointment with the FTC's request but assured that they comply with legal requirements and would cooperate with the FTC.
