17,000 and counting: Jobs cut by startups in India in 2023

A funding drought in the first half of 2023 has forced Indian start-ups to downsize, resulting in over 17,000 layoffs in sectors such as e-commerce, fintech, edtech, logistics tech and healthtech, according to recruitment and staffing firm CIEL HR. The job cuts come after start-ups in India downsized due to a slump in investor funding.
