Qualcomm needs EU approval for $400 million Autotalks chip deal

Qualcomm’s acquisition of Israel-based auto chipmaker Autotalks is being probed by European Union (EU) antitrust regulators. Though the deal falls below the turnover threshold, 15 EU countries, including France, Italy and the Netherlands, have requested an investigation over concerns the acquisition could threaten the market of dedicated chips used in manned and driverless vehicles, forcing OEMs and infrastructure managers to pay higher prices.
