Report claims that YouTube ads may have allowed companies to track children; Google denies

A report by ad quality and transparency platform, Adalytics, has suggested that YouTube ads may have led to tracking of children by major tech companies like Google, Meta, Microsoft and Amazon. According to the report, over 300 brands’ ads for adult products were displayed on 100 YouTube videos for kids. The findings raise concerns as tracking children without parental consent violates the Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act. Google has denied that it violated COPPA. However, two US senators have urged the Federal Trade Commission to probe whether Google and YouTube violated COPPA.
