TRAI: Rise in call drops complaints, service quality rules to be reviewed

The Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) has proposed reviewing existing quality of service (QoS) rules to monitor network performance at the district level and incorporate 4G-5G networks. It has noted an increase in complaints about call drops and network-related issues following the introduction of 5G. Monthly QoS performance reporting is proposed at state level to assess the proposed stringent performance benchmarks for 4G and 5G networks and ensure uninterrupted services. To simplify regulation, three proposed regulations will be merged into a single regulation dealing with QoS standards for all voice and data services, including wireless and wireline.
