Amazon wants to offer broadband from space in India, data speed expected and more

Amazon has applied for approval from the Indian National Space Promotion and Authorization Centre (IN-SPACe) to offer satellite broadband services in India. This move will put Amazon in competition with other satellite communications providers in the country, such as Starlink and Oneweb. Amazon is also reportedly planning to seek a global mobile personal communication by satellite services (GMPCS) licence from the Department of Telecommunications. The company aims to provide broadband speeds ranging from 100 Mbps to 1 Gbps through its broadband-from-space services, with the service expected to launch by the end of next year.
