Google is killing this Gmail's over 10-year-old feature

Google will be discontinuing Gmail's basic HTML view starting from January 2024. This feature, which is over 10 years old, allows users to access their emails in a simplified format. Gmail will automatically switch to the standard view after the deadline. The basic HTML view lacks several features like chat, spell checker, and search filters, but is useful for low-connectivity situations. It is unclear if Google plans to introduce another mode for low connectivity. Google has been discontinuing various features recently, including Google Podcasts and the collaborative whiteboarding app Jamboard.
